It has taken me decades to make my first trip to Ireland. And now I regret having wasted so many years not going. These photographs are a small selection of the thousands I took during a three week tour, primarily down the west and south coasts of the Republic of Ireland but also up through the Wicklow Mountains in the east. Friends in Dublin had warned me about the weather. And sure enough in September 2025 it rained every single day!

Over the years I’ve learned to worry less about the technical qualities of my photographs. Does it matter if the image is not pin sharp? Does it matter if they are captured on a phone instead of a camera. These are a mix of both. What I hope I have captured is the emotion I felt when confronted with some of the most wonderful landscapes in the world, and the raw energy of the Atlantic ocean.
